Hi there! My name is Jon, and I started Altsha in my dorm room at UC Berkeley back in 2014 to share my love of craft.
Since then we've made thousands of pieces for customers all over the world, and every one is still made by hand in our home workshop in California. The leather comes from world-renowned tanneries, chosen so what you buy will last. The aim hasn't changed: American craftsmanship, and pieces made for you that you'll want to keep for years.
We want the things you use every day to be things you actually like.
When you bring something into your life, you want to know it was made with care: that it will hold up to your routine and still feel good to use years from now. That's what we aim for with every piece we make in our California workshop.
A wallet for your essentials, a strap fitted to your favorite watch, a red envelope for a milestone: each one gets the same attention to detail.
That goes down to the hardware. We choose our solid stainless steel and brass by its weight and feel, so it's one less thing you'll have to worry about.
We use full-grain leather because it lasts, and because it changes with you.
It softens to your hands, takes on the shape of your habits, and builds a patina that nobody else's piece will have. We want to make honest, well-made things you get attached to, and that serve you well for years.
