Find answers to frequently asked questions about Altsha products, shipping, orders, returns, and more.
Right here on our website, which always has the full range. You'll also find a smaller selection on our Etsy shop.
Every piece is made by hand to order, just for you, in the size and leather you pick. That takes about a week right now. Watch buckles bought on their own are the exception: they're already on the shelf, so they ship in 1 to 3 business days. If your order has both, we send everything together once your piece is ready. Have a deadline or something special in mind? Send us a note using the form at the bottom of this page and we'll do our best to help.
Pick your options on the product page before adding the item to your bag. Depending on the piece, that can include size and leather, and the price updates as you go. Want something that isn't listed? Send us a note using the form at the bottom of this page and we'll do our best to help.
We ship within the US by USPS First-Class Mail and Priority Mail. Your piece takes about a week to make (watch buckles on their own ship in 1 to 3 business days), and it usually arrives 2-5 business days after it ships.
Checkout only takes US addresses for now, but we'd love to get a piece to you. Get in touch using the form at the bottom of this page before you order and we'll do our best to arrange it.
Shipping within the US is free on every order, with no minimum. If you need it sooner or sent another way, let us know using the form at the bottom of this page and we'll see what we can do.
All major credit and debit cards, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay. Payments go through Stripe's secure checkout, and your card details are never stored on our servers.
Sales tax is added at checkout once you've entered your shipping address, because the rate depends on where your order is going. Shipping within the US stays free either way.
When your order ships, we'll email you a USPS tracking number. That email and your order confirmation both link to your order page, where you can check on your order any time. Can't find either email? Send us your order number using the form at the bottom of this page and we'll resend the link.
Let us know as soon as you can, since every piece is made to order. The quickest way to cancel is from your order page (linked in your confirmation email): send a cancellation request there and it comes straight to us with your order attached. For anything else, email [email protected]. We'll always try to help, but once your piece is made or shipped, changes may not be possible.
If you're not happy with a stock piece, let us know within 30 days of delivery and we'll replace or refund it. The easiest way is your order page (linked from your confirmation and shipping emails): send a return or exchange request from there. Lost those emails? Use the form at the bottom of this page. We'll reply to confirm before you send anything back. We cover return shipping for items that arrive damaged or defective. Customized pieces (anything with extra options added) are final sale, but if something's wrong, we'll work with you to put it right.
Usually, yes. Under the Sold out button there's a link that says "Email me when it's back". Leave your email there and we'll send you one note, by hand, when that piece is available again. It won't sign you up for our mailing list, and we won't share your address with anyone.
It means the piece isn't on the shelf yet, but we'll make it for you. You pay in full at checkout, like any made-to-order piece, and the product page shows how long it takes to ship and roughly when it should arrive. Buying more than one thing? Your order ships as a single parcel, so the slowest piece sets the date for everything in it. If that doesn't work for you, order the in-stock piece separately, or email [email protected] before you order and we'll tell you what's possible.
Nope. Checkout is always guest checkout, so there's nothing to sign up for. Your order confirmation email has everything an account would: your order number, a summary, and a private link to your order page, where you can follow your order and send us requests about it. That link works for six months, so hang on to the email.
Choose the card checkout, and you'll find a promotion code field above the total on our secure Stripe payment page. One code per order. Apple Pay and Google Pay skip that page, so there's nowhere to enter a code there. We don't offer a sign-up discount, so any code you have came from us in a particular email or campaign.
We don't sell gift cards or offer gift wrap, but every order is gift-ready. It comes in our own packaging with a card, and the packing slip lists the items and address without any prices. Anything we should know before we pack it? Add it to the order notes in your bag.
Not on a single piece, sorry. We do hand embossing for wholesale and commission orders, which have a minimum order value, but we can't add lettering to a one-off order right now.
Check the size guide on the product page, under the "Size guide" heading. It shows only the sizes that piece comes in, with diagrams for measuring. For belts, measure a belt you already wear, from the fold at the buckle to the hole you actually use, and order that number in inches. Don't go by your waist or trouser size - both will come out too short.
The product page will tell you. Next to the width selector, look for "Find your watch": type in your brand and model and it'll show the lug width your watch takes, plus the length and taper we'd suggest. You'll find it in the strap designer too. Watch not listed? Measure the gap between the lugs in millimeters and pick that number, or email [email protected] with the model and we'll look it up.
Yes. On any watch strap, choose Custom length in the Length menu and set each side yourself, in 5mm steps. As you go, the page shows which wrists that length fits. Often what you're after is a different split rather than a different size: a 120/70 strap is the same total as our Regular 115/75, with the buckle in a different place. A custom length is +$5 and, because it's cut just for you, final sale.
From a handful of world-renowned tanneries, and we're happy to name them. Most of our range is from Horween of Chicago, Illinois: Shell Cordovan, Chromexcel, Dublin, Derby, Cypress, Essex, Yellowstone, Aspen, Waxed Flesh, and the two embossed belt hides, Scotch Grain Latigo and Hatch Grain. English Bridle and Harness come from Wickett & Craig of Curwensville, Pennsylvania. Each product page names the exact hide your piece is cut from, and every order is cut, burnished and finished by hand in our California workshop.
Each leather is its own product, so for a different one, just open that strap or belt in the leather you want. The options on the page are for size and hardware. For watch straps, our Design your strap page lets you pick the leather, width, thread and buckle, and see the strap in 3D before you order. Want a leather we don't offer for that piece? Email [email protected] and we'll let you know if we can make it.
Very close, but not identical, because these are full grain hides. Grain, color and small natural marks vary across each hide, and your piece is cut from whichever one is on the table that week. Screens shift color a little too. That variation is part of the leather, not a flaw - but it's never a reason we'd turn down a return within 30 days.
Start with the care notes on your piece's product page. They're written for each leather, since Shell Cordovan and waxed flesh need different care, and the wrong advice can do real harm. For everything: keep it away from humidity, heat and long spells in direct sun. Leather develops a patina over time, and the darkening and soft marks are what make the piece yours.
Our pieces are built to last, and we love seeing them age. For a repair or refurbishment, open your order page (linked from your confirmation and shipping emails) and send us a repair request telling us what happened. Bought yours a while ago? Use the form at the bottom of this page instead and we'll take it from there.
Let it dry slowly, away from radiators, hair dryers and direct sun - it's the heat that does the damage, not the water. Blot it with a soft cloth, let it dry at room temperature, then buff it. Water can leave a darker patch or a mark as it dries, but that usually evens out with wear. None of these leathers are waterproof, so think of a soaking as something your piece will recover from rather than something to plan around.
