Aspen is a vegetable-tanned leather with the look of a well-loved vintage leather jacket: distinctive grain and a polished luster.
From Horween in Chicago, lined over a vegetable-tanned backing.
Aspen's grain varies from skin to skin, and Horween finishes it under a polished luster, so light runs along the ridges and drops away between them. It's the look of a well-loved vintage leather jacket, and it's what separates one of these from a plain dress watch strap in the same color. From across a room it reads as a single shade. Up close it doesn't, and because the pattern is the hide's own, no two Aspen straps look quite alike.
Black has more going on than a typical dress black. Dark Brown is espresso. Cognac is a warm amber that glows under the polish, Burgundy a deep wine, Navy a marine blue that flatters a steel dial, and Green a bottle green you won't see on many wrists. All six are lined, from the Vintage Horween series.
